Ascent Trip ReportHeaded up from Devil's Tombstone trailhead at 6 pm for sunset hike. Trail is part of Devil's Path. Starts out steep and rocky (was clear and dry tonight). View of Hunter Mountain (can see tower) and Burrough's range. Lots of cool rock structures. Hit Orchard's Point for best of the sunset (lots of clouds) after the most awesome rock scramble. On to Danny's Lookout featuring a nice rock structure to climb on for photo ops and views of Thomas Cole, Black Dome and Blackhead and other peaks. Also views of Round Top and Kaaterskill High Peak from some point but I'm not sure exactly where. Moved on for the couple miles of flat (wet, muddy with some icy rail in middle of trail, no traction needed) to summit marker (red circle on tree), almost missed it in the dark. Then on to a viewpoint shortly further but couldn't see in the dark. Descent was easy in the dark with headlamps. Finished at 11:30 pm.
