Ascent Trip Report

Hikes to Ancho Peak can be made from the east starting at FR-72 or from the west using FR-9026D which deadends at an earth dam due to a washout of the road. Since I had just hiked Monument Peak I took an obvious rough cut-off road, not signed but appears on maps, that takes you from FR-617 down to FR-9026D. My NAV system showed it as FR-9026D but various maps show this same road as 9027C or 9925. In any case 9026D heads toward an earth dam where its becomes washed out but still easy to follow as it makes it way up the mountain to a saddle where it meets a signed FR-9915. Simply take FR-9915 as it heads straight at the peak then head up the mountain to the highpoint.
