Ascent Trip Report

“Bare Hill with Light Top”. Easy parking at the eastern end of the minor road east of Eisingrug near Talsarnau.

Combined with an ascent of the adjacent Moel Ysgyfarnogod, both very shapely hills in a marvellous setting of the wild northern Rhinogs. Walk 9.2 in the Nuttalls book except we did it in reverse because we tend to prefer steep ascents and more gentle descents. A mistake, I think, because the graded miners track skirting the south of Moel Ysgyfarnogod makes a much better route in both directions (I sometimes feel the Nuttalls avoid ‘there-and-back’ routes purely on principle rather than on merit). Nevertheless a great walk with much of interest in a lovely location.
