Ascent Trip Report

From Fallon NV, head east on US hwy 50 to the junction with Nevada hwy 722 (just passed MM 70 and the "Shoe Tree") make a sharp right turn and drive 7 miles until you see a road sign for "IONE" turn right(southeast) on a graded gravel 2wd road, pass a cattle guard and BLM sign for Buffalo Canyon, continue on this road for 4 miles passed a small culvert crossing and park at a junction with a jeep road heading to the west towards Grayback mtn. Follow the jeep road winding through a sandy/gravelly wash to about 6000ft where it turns into a cow path through an ever narrowing ravine. Cross country from here towards the east side of the mountain and head towards the summit ridgeline. Most of the traverse is open sagebrush with scattered trees and you can see the summit objective the entire way. A register is in a glass jar under a small cairn.
