Ascent Trip Report

WTC snow camp at South Lake. Backpacked 5 mi from road closure to South Lake parking lot on Fri, about 3mi of pavement (with 3' or higher snow walls on each side) and 2mi of packed snow from tractor. No snowshoes needed. Attempted usual snowshoe along Bishop Pass trail on Sat but became an icy slope so we turned around. Went up toward Green and Brown, but two students had medical issues so I stayed with them at the lunch spot (10,200') and then took them back. Snowshoed up the knob between the parking lot and South Lake...twice with different students. Did avi pit instruction on Sun near camp. Packed out. Temps got down to about 4F on Fri night when we slept out (no tents). Lots of frozen water containers. Days were nice and sunny.
