Ascent Trip Report

Started at turnout about 1 mile south of Hidden Valley Campground, and followed HPS Route 4 (slightly modified) cross country to the west, through the boulders and up the south ridge of Minerva Hoyt. Windy at summit. Down the SW ridge of MH to the use trails that took us to the top of Quail. Windy at summit, but great views in all directions. Saw no one the entire trip. Modified the return trip - emerged onto Lost Horse Valley a little farther to the south than Route 4 indicates, but no worries - we knew where we parked, and the distance was the same as others. Right at 11.0 miles round trip. Great hike.
