Ascent Trip Report

After climbing Red Hill earlier we had planned on heading over and climbing up Tremper. On the way to Tremper we were passing all the Denning / Frost Valley Rd trailheads and we were talking about how much we loved the Panther Mountain hike. As we got close to the trailhead we decided to was too nice of a day to pass up Panther, so we changed plans and pulled in. We were starting off late but it's a pretty quick hike so off we went at 1:50. We reached the junction at 2:05 (540' gain over 0.7 miles) and then hit the ledges at 2:30 (another 460' over ~0.75 miles). Lots of snow on the ground from Thursdays storm but the trail was fully packed out so we carried our shoes and only needed spikes. Over the next ~1.8 miles or so we would drop about 200' into the col before ascending another ~620' to the summit of Panther and then following the same route out. All together it was ~ 6.3 miles with ~1700' of gain. An incredibly warm and sunny late March afternoon, great hike!
