Ascent Trip ReportFrom Peak 1686, I followed the North Ridge trail all the way over to Gilman Peak, which sits off a short spur from the main trail. Easy to find, easy to get to the top. At the top I got a call from my daughter's school saying she had a fever and needed to be picked up, so I decided to take the trail that dropped straight down from the peak into Telegraph Canyon. This was a mistake, as the trail was so overgrown in parts as to be impossible to follow. I bumbled along and did my best and eventually got to the bottom, missing a decent amount of the skin from my legs thanks to some plant (looked like wild cucumber but with a white pattern on the leaves) that was growing abundantly at shin level. Not recommended any time soon! |
