Ascent Trip ReportFrom Needles CA it took a half hour to get to the trailhead. At the power lines we turned left into the road. We hiked about 2 miles to the base of the mountain thru a gully. We had to keep travelling upwards in loose talus and in heat. Occasionally we had to climb up some boulders. Lots of bushwhacking with cat claws and Choia Cacti. For the first time I had the experience of having a ball of choia deeply embedded in my leg. We started at 8:30 AM, went to the peak at 12:30 PM, took a half hour lunch and then got back to the car at 4:30 PM. Lots of great desert flowers, challenging hike.
