Ascent Trip ReportI arrived at the Uwharrie trailhead on Flint Road, which has room for about 6 cars and features a kiosk, at 7:30 a.m., with the temperature at 33?. I followed the white-blazed trail around Dark Mountain up to the ridge at a small saddle and turned left and made my way cross-country up the ridge to the obvious high point. I was able to avoid any brush at all, and just for laughs, I meandered off the high point to cover both the official waypoint and the red dot on the map. I then made my way back down to the trail and back to my car. Up-and-down took me about an hour. |
