Ascent of Beroch Wuha on 2019-02-27Others in Party: | Denise Mclellan Rob Woodall -- Trip Report or GPS Track Petter Bjørstad ----Only Party on Mountain | Date: | Wednesday, February 27, 2019 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Beroch Wuha | Location: | Ethiopia | Elevation: | 14016 ft / 4272 m |
Ascent Trip ReportSummit :- N13.31504deg.,E038.25243deg. 4276m Rocky summit. West Top :- N13.31497deg.,E038.25202deg. 4276m Group of 3 loose rocks on grass/soil Col :- N13.32430deg.,E038.252436deg. 4133m Descend from the Peak East of Silki by the S rigde then W down through rock outcrops and grassy patches to the upper grassy valley bowl, all very straight forward and the route Petter and Denise had ascended on. Unusually there are no locals in the area. We join a well trod path traversing under Silki a deep valley with villages to our left. As the path starts to descend we traverse the steep grassy slope on animal tracks to gain the col we’d joined the ridge at earlier in the day. Skies to NW ominously grey, a few spots of rain. Gentle grassy slopes reach the twin summits of Beroch Wuha, unable to differentiate by Abney but my vote goes to the E one as it’s solid rock. Descend the S face, all very straight forward mainly on grass with a few rocks to avoid, our camp visible below. Pair of Wattled Ibis, air scented with Thyme growing in the grass.
