Ascent Trip ReportIt was a beautiful day and really warm for the first day of May. Found the trailhead pretty easily and was at the summit in about 45 min. There's a really nice section about 0.7 miles in where the trail is somewhat level and to the right is an area where the trees are spaced pretty wide apart and everything looks very open and almost organized. My book says that this used to be an old farm and that this section of the trail is actual part of an old wagon trail. The climb itself isn't terribly tough and the summit is nice and wide open. Unfotunately the fire tower wasn't manned today so the cab on top was locked, but the views from the stairs were enough. This was the first of two peaks today and fire tower #23 for me in the ADK Fire Tower Challenge. |
