Ascent Trip Report

Ascended via the Three Brothers. Snow hard packed and easy to maneuver. Steep sections. Stunning views almost the entire way. One tricky, icy section just before the summit. I used my ice axe to get back down (backwards), but a rope around the tree would have been more useful. Huge, wide, spectacular views from the summit. Descended via Johns Brook Valley which was a bit longer (a little over a mile more) but smooth and easy without all the rocky sections. A group of six were bringing up supplies with sleds to JBL. Took about 8 hours with lots of stops for photos. This trail became an instant favorite.

The upper part of the road just before where you pay (no one there to collect the fee) was pure ice. A van got stuck so I helped them get unstuck. They got stuck again right at the payment booth. When I left the lot, it was still super icy and I almost slid off several times.
