Ascent Trip Report

Karen Parked car at the lowest point in the road (West Pin Hook Road) near the intersection with North Cross Roads and as I got out of the car three black dogs came running down the drive to greet me barking up a storm. Two of the three appeared friendly and the other took a more defensive stance about me getting out near his master's property. I quickly realized they were three black labs so nooooo problem. As I turned to gather my gloves and put them on I could hear the master hollering for them to return to him and I put out a hand for the first one closing in to do the sniff test on me. After one sniff, one lick, and I have him a quick pet, he leaped into our rental car and my wife began petting him. I escorted him out of the car and the second lab approached and hopped in the small car. I petted the first one again and he jumped in with the second and now we had two excited to greet us strange labs in the front seat. Karen was laughing; the owner yelling at them and then the third came up barking loudly at all of this commotion.

It was quite hilarious and I exchanged pleasantries with the owner and then he retrieved his labs and I headed at a brisk pace in the 10 degree winter air up the steep icy road. Turning left onto the State Road next to the tower, I jogged over to the gate with the "no trespassing sign" Typical sign that all tower sites have at the gate for liability reasons and no real menacing threats and tracks in the snow to the tower.

Karen picked me up on my jog back to the base of Pinhook Road
