Ascent Trip Report

Started out up the wrong wash. Just turned upslope to a powerline road, and took the 25-ft drop into the correct one. Turned out to be a beneficial error. That narrow wash is guarded by a nasty little dryfall/catclaw combo that I would not have wanted to climb. The dryfall was easy; the problem was the badly placed catclaw growing on it. The final steep slope to the SW ridge had a lot of loose scree and tallus. Quite tedious. Went up both the catwalks. But on descent, I bailed out on the lower one, to avoid a steep smooth slab that was greatly exposed. I hurried this one to beat the sunset. Ordinarily would have taken another 15 minutes each way.

Drove in the usual route from the south. Heading home, I drove out the north side to the town of Palo Verde. Similar road, maybe slightly rougher.
