Ascent Trip ReportTook Mill Creek Road (becomes Forest Service Road) off Unicoi Turnpike. Followed Mill Creek Rd until the gate. Parked in front of the gate and hiked to the AT (Addis Gap) from there (about a mile). Turned North on the AT and hiked up to where a ridge off of Double Spring Knob intersected the AT and followed that up to the summit. The part of this hike from the AT to the summit of Double Spring Knob is the easiest part of the hike, even though it is off trail. From the gate at the end of Mill Creek Road, to the AT, to the summit of DSK is all uphill, there is not one spot where the trail levels out. It's a short hike (4.5 miles out and back) but a little over 1480 feet elevation gain. Nice workout and nice winter views.
