|Peak:||Hardwood Ridge-East Peak|
| Elevation:||2044 ft / 623 m|
Ascent Trip ReportDid this ascent as a winter hike with both skiing and snowshoeing. There is good access from Depot Road/VAST 302 off Groton State Forest Road or VT Route 232. Parked across from the Depot Road and about 100 yards north on 232 on a road to Lake Groton camps. Probably best not to park directly on 232 during winter months.
At about .75 miles on Depot is the Trailhead to Silver Ledge which would be a good winter hike. At about 1 mile Beaver Brook Road is available on the right. There was no track but I was able to ski in with my backcountry skis. This road will provide access to the 3 Hardwood Peaks and probably others. At about 1.5 miles in I changed to snowshoes and headed up the Hardwood Ridge for an easy bushwhack to the wooded summit. No register but there were colored ribbons marking a trail from the North and the Kettle Pond Area.
All around great winter adventure.
