Ascent Trip ReportQuick training hike for the year and 2 peak bagged. This was done to get rid of the blemmish of bagging the tallest peak in GA by car many years ago. Total gain of trip was 2,000 feet. total trip distance was 6+1.2=7.2 miles.
Easy hike. Some steep section of trail up Wolfpen Ridge but without a breakneck pace made the summit in 1 hour (2 miles and 1,600 feet. No views at summit but some really nice white oaks with character on ridge. Trees were fully leafed out at bottom but not even sprouting at top. Dogwoods flowering at bottom but not at top. Rohodendrons were heavily budded but proabably still 2-3 weeks from full blooming (sometime in May).
Only one overlook just past the peak and once you decend about 40 feet off trail to the right. Best views are from Brasstown Bald.
