Ascent Trip Report

Did this one with the Atlanta Outdoor Club (first hike with this group). We started from Tate Branch Campground and followed an old un-maintained trail almost to about a half mile of Steeltrap Knob and left the trail and followed a ridgeline straight up the Knob, then we hiked almost due north to Dick's Knob. We then backtracked and at Streeltrap Knob we hiked Southeast and South until we joined the old jeep trail that leads up to Chestnut Mountain (reaching the peak of Chestnut). On return we followed the trail labeled "The Ladder" and leads back down to the the campground from the ridge that runs between Chestnut Mountain and Steeltrap Knob.
