Ascent Trip Report

Entered 12/14/2018.

This was the first day trip during the Outdoor Pursuits Fall 2018 season. We parked on Mountain Road adjacent to the intersection with Mount Agamenticus Road. We hiked the Ring Trail, taking the Fisher Trail to the summit of Mount Agamenticus. There were relatively clear views from the summit although clouds were present. It was also fairly windy. We could just barely see some of the White Mountains to the northwest, maybe it was the Osipee Range, and the ocean to the east. There were some people at the summit but not many considering there's a road to the top. We then hiked down the mountain via Vultures View and then headed north on the Cedar Trail, northeast on the Norman Trail, and southeast on the Notch Trail. We then took the Wheel and Third Hill Trail to the summit of Third Hill. We then began to loop back west, following the Third Hill Trail, Darter Trail, Notch Trail, Incline Trail, and Ridge Trail to the summit of Second Hill. There were no views due to tree cover from Second or Third Hill but served as nice resting points. Finally we hiked south on the Ridge Trail, Porcupine Trail, Rocky Road Trail, and Ring Trail, returning to our vehicle on Mountain Road. The total mileage is about 8.5 hours.
