Ascent of Millstone Hill in 1983-07Date: | July, 1983 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Millstone Hill | Location: | USA-New Jersey | Elevation: | 916 ft / 279 m |
Ascent Trip ReportMillstone Hill is inside of Camp Glen Gray, which used to be a Boy Scout camp, but is now part of the Bergen Co. park system. I used to go to summer camp up there during high school - it was alot of fun, and I learned things too. During the school year, my scout troop (Troop 2, Verona, NJ) would go up to our cabin for weekend trips. I'm really grateful that I had the opportunity to get out into the woods & hills regularly at that time in my life - it really did set up a lifelong love for the outdoors. When I was at summer camp, I was at the "Pioneer" campsite in the flat saddle west of Millstone Hill. I kid you not - I have never run into as many rattlesnakes as I did those summers, which, granted wasn't that many (3, I think) but still, since then - can't remember any. Used to catch bluegill & largemouth bass in the lake. |
