Ascent Trip ReportWe parked at the trailhead for West Beach, hiked along North beach underneath the highway bridge an on to the bald summit of Goose Rock. Wonderful views to the south and west. Only complaint is that our lovely military was in the midst of conducting some very noisy test flights during our time at the state park. 4 jet planes were flying in never-ending circles and constantly landing/taking off at some unknown location to the south. This lasted for the entire 3+ hours we spent in the park. Alas... we were still able to see see otters, bald eagles, a variety of sea birds, and a seal (viewed from the highway bridge as it swam in the choppy waters of Deception Pass) despite the noise! |
