Ascent Trip Report

I followed Daniel Mick's driving directions and hiked his "Elk Wallow Ridge" and "South of Ridge" routes. Without a bicycle, this is an easy but tedious hike. The "Elk Wallow Ridge" is not difficult to ascend in dry conditions, but wasn't so much fun going down in the dark with a flashlight in one hand and trekking pole in the other (I forgot to bring my headlamp).

I reached the summit shortly after sunset. It was just bright enough to photograph my entry in the summit log. I returned the way I came. It was pretty dark except for the moonlight that reached the road in places. I did miss a right turn shortly before Elk Wallow Ridge; the correct road is not as well-used as the one to the left. I shortly realized my mistake and retraced my steps.

The GPX file includes the approach as well as the hike.
