Ascent of Bluff Mountain on 2018-11-11
|Date:||Sunday, November 11, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4840 ft / 1475 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe location of the high point according to GPS coordinates on Peakbagger and LoJ are misleading. The summit is flat and open, and it is clear when you reach this area that the cluster of rock outcrops on the west side is the highest elevation. There are rocks 200 feet east of this location, but they look to be 10 feet shorter. My GPS may look a little off compared to the high point location on the Peakbagger map, but these rocks are located right on the contour line on the west side and clearly looked to be higher than everything else.
Otherwise the bushwhack was pretty easy, almost all open woods with some short saplings near the top. You can follow a very old forest road track most of the way until the last steep climb to the top. Should take anyone 30-40 minutes to complete.
