Ascent Trip ReportI started the trip out biking from my cabin in Hill City. I started riding at about 7:30 am, when there was enough light to cycle safely. The ride to Palmer Creek Trailhead was mostly all uphill but pretty gradual. From there I put on my hiking boots and started hiking up to Black Elk Peak and McGillicuddy from the Lost Cabin Trail. I summitted the two peaks by about 11:00 am and started hiking back on the north side of trail #9. The hike back seemed much longer and I did about 14 miles of hiking by the time I got back to my bike. The ride back was mostly downhill and went pretty quick. I got back to my cabin at about 2:30 and did a total of 13 miles of cycling.
