Ascent Trip ReportThis may be the shortest route to the summit of Rainbow Wall, however, it may not be the easiest. The trailhead is the Oak Creek Parking Lot which is the last parking lot on the scenic loop in the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area near Las Vegas. The trails into Juniper Canyon can be confusing, there are plenty of them to choose from. Eventually you want to be on the main access trail which is on the north side of the canyon. It is cairned up through very large boulders then up a gully onto a dirt trail around a mound. There is a large cairn near the junction of the trail up to Juniper Peak and the trail up to Rainbow Wall. Take the left trail to go to Rainbow Wall. It Is hard to follow the cairns in here but eventually you will reach the bottom of Gunsight Notch. At this point is the class 4 up climb. When we reached this point and there was a rope to go up the 12 feet of class 4 climbing. It wasn't hard with a rope. Without one you could probably stem up with little difficulty. A little further up there is a small rabbit hole to negotiate. Then at the top of the notch you must climb up through a very narrow slot. From the top of the notch you have to follow the track until you reach the steep slabs which are very well cairned.
