Ascent Trip Report

Knocknagnauv and Knocknafallia, Tipperary, Ireland (Hewitt and Marilyn).
Secondary peaks of Knockmeal and Crohan West.
I’m keeping these summaries short as I’m on a two month tour of Ireland and there’s a lot of hills to hike and therefore lots of entries.
All mapping used are view ranger digital OS 1:50 or 1:25. You will get the best results by uploading my wikiloc gpx giles into this mapping software.
Parking for this route is a small pull in (enough for two cars) on the secondary road running south from Newcastle. I extended this hike to cover two more minor peaks to make at least a decent walk out of it. In total then there are four peaks on this multi looped track, two peaks west and two north. In addition there are so many twists and turns on this one so it’s easier to just say follow the Gpx track. You can also simplify the route by going directly out and back on each set. To proffer a slight warning though when heading down from Cruchan towards the forest (east) the heather is deeper than normal...but still manageable. I had so so weather, quite cloudy but still the views were good. Enjoy the day.
All in all a 12.5km hike with 679m of ascent done in 3hrs 50min. Simply great!
