Ascent Trip ReportI obtained the two required BLM permits on-line using the info from several Peakbagger.com trip reports, then called the BLM office in Marina the week before to get the combination for the lock on the gate; the on-line permits were easy to figure out and the lady that I spoke to at BLM to get the combo was very helpful. From the locked gate located on the west side of the Clear Creek Management Area, I drove up BLM road numbers R1, R14, R11, and R13 to an un-named road with a sign that says "Not a through street", which I followed to the top. It's about 15 miles from the locked gate to the top, and it took me 1.5 hours to drive it. Also, the road is in great shape; however, I recommend an all wheel drive or a 4x vehicle with some ground clearance for the drive because the road is steep in places and has a few ruts. I stayed at the Oak Flat Campground the night before, which is very nice and the fee for camping is included in the BLM permit fees that are required to gain access to Clear Creek Management Area. Also, I left a new summit register book on top of the summit crags.
