Ascent Trip ReportSupposed to be a final reunion climb of Sahale via Quien Sabe glacier for the 2018 Cokus/Shih Basic Alpine Climbing SIG but alas weather and route conditions had us reconsider and opt for a nice ridge traverse scramble of Bootjack and High Chair. Great to get all together and the ridge run was fun. Cool little dry tarn area. Could find harder or easier routes up High Chair. Nice day out! Unfortunately being Sat Leavenworth was super busy and a 1 hr wait for SOUTH had us eating elsewhere. Not the best food but we were able to be together and get food (and wine) right away.
Sue and I stayed overnight in swenatchee to climb on a Sunday. I led all of R & D then debating what to do before dinner at SOUTH and back over Blewtt pass before it closed... headed to Castle Rock and I led the first pitch of Saber. Soooo scary! Good ...but scary! Really glad I did it. Sue followed up and then we rapped off the bolted belay if saber ledge with our one 60m rope. The team of two Canadians that came up Scary Canary first pitch used our rope to rap to speed up their descent as they were driving back that night.
Sue and I had a lovely dinner at a South then home for a great weekend.
