Ascent Trip ReportAlan, Mavic (dog) and I started out around 7:30 am. Easy trail most of the way, past Thirteenth Lake, along Peaked Mountain Brook, past a beaver dam and Peaked Mountain Pond. A few muddy spots and rock hops across the brook. There are a couple places you can clearly see the mountain, the goal. Then there's a steep climb of about half mile with some rock scrambles to the summit (used poles, grabbed onto sturdy roots & trees). Vast, spectacular views of mountains in the Indian Lake region (I do believe Snowy Mt.) and the High Peaks (north). Leaves starting to change so extra special. Found 2 geodetic markers. We didn't encounter anyone on the way up, but probably about 30 people and a Forest Ranger on our descent. Several people were setting up camp. We got slightly off trail (like 30 feet) and did come upon a couple of campers who had been there since at least the night before. Some canoers on Thirteenth Lake on the way back. You can see Garnet Hill Lodge across the Lake.
