Ascent Trip Report

Approach in freezing temps/socked in and snow flurries at Slate Pass at 8am on Sunday. Hike into meadows below Shellrock to camp (9 hours approach). Arrived at 5pm and had gotten water, eaten dinner and hung a food bag before it started to rain/snow at 6:30 pm. Gypsy and I slept through that.

In the morning it looked mostly clear and improving. By the time we went over the first knoll (pt 7275) and started to traverse we were socked in and it was worse higher up. There was fresh snow on the rock making going tough. We pushed through and found better (drier) rock around under pt 8109. Soon the clouds parted over Lost and we were happy to have persevered and stolen this one. Time to summit: 6 hours flat. Descent took just as long (6:20). Counting summit time it was a 12:45 camp to camp. We got back without needing a headlamp.
