Ascent Trip ReportParked at the end of the scenic loop drive, which was a mistake. Oak Creek Trailhead is the clear parking choice for this route. I started out from my car around 4:00am which meant I had to handle the whole wash in the dark. The wash itself forms the crux of this climb. There are some pretty cool class 3 boulder hopping moves, and a class 2/3 crack climb 50 feet up a 30-40 incline.
Once out of the wash, the route gets pretty strenuous with steep class 1 hiking up sandstone slabs. There is one short, 10-foot class 3 downclimb near the summit. Other than that, the hike is pretty straight-forward. The only drawback is the high level of bushiness everytime you get a single step off-route.
