Ascent Trip Report

Pink Hill is a hot spot for HPs in this area. This was the first of 4 that I bagged in a 2-hour stretch (the others being Duplin, Jones and Onslow), during a 7 County HP day. If you are interested in knocking out this many out in a day (and you easily get 4 more if you stretched it) contact me for the route.

Set your GPS for 3904 Old Pink Hill Road, which will lead you a house on a curve in the road. Because there was no shoulder, i pulled in to the driveway. Knocked on the door, but there was no one home. Or I should say no humans. There were dogs of various shapes and sizes, upset chickens, a cat who seemed to care less about the situation and a number of other startled barnyard animals. I kicked myself for not recording the cacophony, all because this guy walked into the yard. Nothing appeared dangerous, so I found the 165 contour at the HP and wandered back to the car. I patted the cat on the way back and she just sighed, as if to say I have to deal with this all of the time. I bet so.
