Ascent Trip Report

The Kilpacker Trail begins as maybe the best trail on a 14er that I can remember. Even with some horse traffic, the trail has not worn down into the dirt like the others. Then it became rocky; then talus-y; then no trail up steep boulders, some a little unstable. Then came the steep loose dirt and rock in the gullies. I was wishing I had brought my helmet. But luckily my late 9am start left me the only one in the gullies going up and also down. Followed 14ers.com directions; worked great. Had the summit alone. The top is so small, I think it would have felt crowded with more than 6 people.
