Ascent Trip ReportTook the Healdville Trail to the Okemo Fire Tower. My GPS took right past the railroad tracks where I became confused as to where to park. There is a very narrow spot with concrete slabs that barely look like a vehicle can fit through it. I was the only one there so I parked in a small clear spot by a memorial before the concrete slabs. When I returned, numerous cars were in the spacious lot beyond this squeezy spot. Is that how they got in there...squeezing through the slabs? Or is there another entrance I missed? Also when I looked on my GPS, there is no actual Okemo Mountain. Any research I did on maps didn't show an Okemo Mt. either, it just what the ski area and state forest are called although the parking lot said trail to Okemo Mt. and a hiker said, yes this trail is the backside of Okemo Mt. The trail is very easy to follow and well marked. Awesome views from the tower. You can easily see the ski tow thing and other stuff (I'm not a skier, forgive my description.) About 6 miles RT.
