Ascent Trip ReportVisited the high point on a hot summer day with temperatures about 90 degrees. It was a long 5 hour drive from Long Island. I reached the trailhead at 11:30 am. The whole hike took about 45 minutes including a 15 minute break for lunch.
Trailhead parking is on PA 487 in Ricketts Glen State Park. Follow the yellow blazed Grand Divide Trail uphill and approximately half mile to the firetower. The trail joins a fire road after a short distance and continues to the firetower. Follow a narrow unmarked trail southwest to Columbia County line. Push through about 10 yards of brush and find the unmarked square stone monument which marks the county line and the high point. |
