Ascent Trip ReportRoad to trailhead officially closed at time of visit unless you have accommodation booked up there. We were booked into Edith Cavell hostel the night before. Gate at start of road was unmanned: luckily Petter Bjorstad was there recently so we knew the combination. The confirmation email also gave the combination, but we didn't pick up the email until after our visit.
6h30 up, 5h down, 11h50 round trip from Edith Cavell hostel. Followed Brandon Boulier's (downward) track up and down west ridge, visited all 3 summits: checked with hand level: easternmost is 1m higher than middle summit, which is 2m higher than west summit. Pretty clear views, best of the last 3 weeks, west to Robson, southward an impressive array of peaks.
Several inches of snow from a few days ago saw us post holing along ridge, took a steep snow ramp up onto summit block (in descent we dropped further down SW ridge before traversing, as snow had softened). With more snow due in next few days, the traverse R under the summit block could become unstable - good we got it when we did.
Coincidentally my nearest hospital at Peterborough UK is called after the same nurse, who was born near there, and coincidentally was arrested for helping PoWs escape, on the date this peak was first climbed, 15 Aug 1915.
