Ascent Trip ReportSouth Camp Peak: Parked at Spooner Summit TRT parking lot. Rode my bicycle up the TRT South until Genoa Peak Road. Followed the bumpy road until an intersection right before the road heads downhill for a bit. Bushwacked up the hill (not very far) from here to a small rock scramble summit. Headed back to my bike then went up Genoa Peak.
Genoa Peak: I missed the better turn directly up the peak and instead looped back up the Southern approach road. At about 9000 feet there is a generator station for the antenna on the summit. I left my bike here and scrambled up the mountain. The scramble is very easy if you stay on the use trail but fairly loose and sharp if you stray off of it. I did not find a summit register up top. There are great views in 360 degrees (if you walk around the building up top). Both the road down and the TRT were a bit rockier than I expected (which slowed me down). Took the TRT the whole way back. Beautiful sunset. |
