Ascent Trip Report

We started off at 1300, a daunting task in and of itself to summit and return by 1700, sunset. This mountain was more than I expected it to be from the brief reports I read And I ultimately didn’t allow enough time to accomplish it, being the biggest factor. That said, i was carrying a heavy pack and one kid, sometimes two, which was very taxing. Third, the weather was bad, drizzling and wet fog the majority and raining at some times. This led to a dangerous trail of slippery rocks and mud. We turned around, reluctantly at 1530, and I’m super happy we did, because it was a horrible descent, leading us to take the road out instead of the remaining lower trail.

Left GPS on after returning to car. Mileage and elevation gain reflects car to car at parking lot @ 1282 meters as reflected on map. Saw a deer on way out.
