Ascent Trip Report

Truck driver job had me starting at noon with a 10 hour time limit and didn't have a ride to the trailhead so I started from Pleasant Grove Walmart. Hiked up past the reservoir up the steep trail that leads to open meadows at about 7600' by road 416. Thunderstorms almost turned me around but I persisted through thistles. Eventually got tired of the poky vegetation and decided it would be less annoying to scramble the dry falls in a gully to the ridge instead. The falls were mostly class 2/3 but there were some 4th moves. A few overhanging falls had to be circumnavigated via veggie belays. eventually I got to a steep grassy slope at about 9500' and started to hike it. Every step was becoming difficult. I rested, tried food and water but still couldn't get myself to move. I needed to be somewhere tomorrow so I couldn't push it and just epic the thing. I stopped just short of 10,000' and realized I still had 2k gain to go. I'll just have to come back some day when I have more time, preferably when there's some snow too.
