Ascent Trip ReportFrom the summit of Clark, we descended the SW ridge perhaps 150' until we found a gully marked with a small cairn. It was class 3/4 and very loose, we descended one at a time to mitigate rockfall. On the way back we found a much better gully just slightly farther down the ridge, marked with two cairns on our visit. Once out of the gully we descended class 2/3 to the saddle W of pt. 7970'. A tedious sidehilling traverse across sandy and dirty terrain ensued. We sidehilled to about 7800' directly S of Luahna's summit, at which point we climbed some class 3 heading for a gully with the "rabbit ears." The gully is loose class 3 with maybe a few class 4 moves. The descent was in a total whiteout, <100 feet of visibility. We had significant routefinding issues getting back up to Clark due to the fog. |
