Ascent Trip Report

Spent 3 days exploring around and climbing Mt Daniel with Brian, including an attempt at Mt Hinman. Hiked up thru Cathedral Pass, passed a guy coming out with backcountry touring setup who had skied that morning. Hiked up along ridge, dropped packs at ridge above Circle Lake, then went and bagged summit. Picked up packs then bushwhacked down to Circle Lake and setup camp.

Next day hiked cross-country over to Venus Lake and made it to the saddle between Daniel and Hinman at 2:00pm, which was our turnaround time. Hiked back and spent a 2nd night at Circle Lake. Fabulous day of cross-country exploring and hiking, not a soul to be seen, and barely signs of other people. I think we left around 8am. Would have needed another 4 hours to probably get up and down Hinman, but definitely looked doable from this side.
