Ascent Trip Report

Travel south on US 395 from Riley or north on US 395 from Valley Falls.
At virtual MP 29.2, 0.7 miles south of Wagontire, turn west onto a dirt road near some electrical transformers.
Zero your odometer.

0.0 Cross a cattle guard
0.4 Continue Straight (Right at a Y junction)
1.5 Continue Straight (Right at a Y junction) and soon begin climbing
3.2 Cross a creek bed (dry for me)
4.0 Cross a cattle guard
5.2 Cross a cattle guard
5.6 Bear Right at a Y junction. You will see the gate ahead.
5.8 Arrive at a locked gate. Park here.

Climb over the locked gate and hike up the road which leads to the Wagontire Lookout near the summit.
The WAGONTIRE benchmark is located to the northwest of the lookout where I found a summit registry placed by Richard Carey.

My tiny level suggested the rocks southeast of the lookout might be just higher than the benchmark. Someone with a good inclinometer might check this.
