Ascent Trip Report

This was a Mazamas climb of the South Ridge. From Pamelia Lake TR, took the PCT south to Shale Lake, then continued up to 7,500 ft where we camped out. The group left camp at 4am. However, winds were sustained at 35 mph. We had hoped we could get above the wind and the group persevered, but at 9,800 feet, we were unable to continue on to the Terrible Traverse due to high winds caused by a front to our north. We turned around, headed back to camp and packed out back to the cars.
