Ascent of Mount Cleveland on 2018-08-16
|Date:||Thursday, August 16, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||10466 ft / 3190 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWe ascended using the standard route from Stoney Indian Campground, it took me about five hours to the summit. With the restricted access to camping for Cleveland many people end up with huge days. With a high bivouac that is avoidable. I don't know what the rangers allow for undesignated camping permits but it would be comfortable to bivy at the notch (between E-W ledges), at the Stoney Indian-Cleveland saddle, or near the 10,000 saddle 1/2 mile south of the summit. If I didn't get reasonable permits, I'd take a light bag, a couple extra liters of water, and a submarine sandwich and break the day up.
