Ascent Trip Report

This was our second hike of the day after Hunter. We decided that instead of driving another 2 hrs just to hike this short one, we might as well get it done and be finished with the Catskill fire towers.

The trail was pretty muddy because of the recent rains, but at no point did the mud go over my laces. Bugs were held off by our bug-spray. This trail was pretty rocky at the beginning but got a bit smoother on the way up.

It took us 1hr17min to get to the summit. Mostly because we were tired and taking our time. Probably could have done it faster if we'd really felt like it. (Darn those random groin pains) The summit was well maintained and landscaped. The tower and the cabin were both closed, but we got as close to the top as we could for the views and the wonderfully refreshing breeze. Spent about 5 minutes up here and then headed back down.

On the way down we swung by the spring that is marked off the path. It was certainly a spring, pipe and all.

Took us 1hr12 to get back down where we were finally able to take our boots off and go get some chocolate milk.
