Ascent Trip ReportWe left the trail in the marshy ground below Hawkins Pass (south side) and headed up the west face gullies. Once through the first gully, it flattens out a bit and eventually you get into a small desolate valley looking at a rock waterfall. If there is no snowmelt coming down it, the waterfall area is very easy to climb. That is the way we went. You then get into a very large cirque with an obvious route to the saddle and then onto the summit slopes. This was a remarkably easy route up. We left camp at 615 am and hiked 4.5 miles to the base of the climb, climbed it and were on top by 1015am. We were astonished how easy this route was compared to our failed attempt last year on the south side of this mountain.
We got back to camp by 1245, so we attempted Marble Mountain in the same day. Needless to say, we should have quit with success on Cusick (laughing).
