Ascent Trip ReportPemi Loop Day 2: Didn't sleep much with the rain and everything in the tent was soaked. Took our time eating breakfast and packing up waiting for the downpour to end. Chris found a weathers station that said it rained 3.3 inches of rain that night. Started off at 11:00 am and the whole garfield ridge was terrible. It was a waterfall. This was our shortest mileage day but super rugged going from garfield ridge to galehead hut. Once at galehead hut, me and chris did the 1 mile up and back spur to tag Galehead. Then up the super steep South twin, just .8 miles of straight up. Luckiy the weather held all day and we didnt get rained on., just slow going with wet rocks. From south twin we traversed to the zealand junction where I did the .2 to get Gyot. Made it to Gyot Tentsite at 730ish. Got to stay in the shelter that night and was able to make dinner. Having a hot mountain house meal felt soo good. Day total= 8.5 miles. |
