Ascent Trip ReportThough I grew up in Vermont and spent several post-college years in New England, I guess I wasn't working on my lists as much as I should have been and missed out on the RI state high point by the time I'd moved out. It took a friend's wedding to get me out of CO and back within striking distance of Jerimoth Hill.
This isn't an inspiring hike, but it is easy to access and well maintained. Parking is on the north side of 101 and it's not too hard to find the path/gate to the south and there are lots of signs leading to the high point rock. I spent a few minutes scouting for some of the trails indicated on the topo map on the peakbagger page for Jerimoth Hill, but I didn't find anything promising and the radio tower to the north of 101 is definitely off limits.
While planning online, I was hoping to figure out a loop run that cut through the woods to the south of the high point, but without seeing a clear path I nixed that plan. I also considered walking up from the reservoir to the west of the hill just to make it a little more interesting, but to be honest, it just didn't seem like that much fun to meander up the (ample) shoulder of a state highway to gain a couple hundred feet.
