Ascent Trip ReportI did a solo scramble of Abernathy on Friday as part of a 2-day trip involving the scramble and cragging in Mazama with friends. The trail is in great condition and the non-trail portion has no snow. The weather was great and I enjoyed awesome views of the Gardners, Reynolds, Oval, Star, and Courtney, among others. I followed the south ridge up and then descended the scree field SE of the summit. There is a faint path that could be followed instead of scrambling the south ridge. This path should be visible from the lake and leads up a scree slope (I descended this way). On the way back, I saw that my GPS showed a trail that cut through the switchbacks on Scatter Creek Trail. I tried to find it with no success and then returned to the trail.
